It integrates six independent inverter (NOT) gates, each with an open-collector high-voltage output capable of withstanding up to 30 V. This makes the XL74LS06 ideal for level translation between logic families and for driving higher-voltage or higher-current loads such as relays, indicator lamps, and LEDs that ordinary logic outputs cannot handle directly. Because the outputs are open-collector, an external pull-up resistor is required, and outputs can be wired together for wired-AND logic functions.
