The XD2907-8 is a monolithic frequency-to-voltage (F/V) and voltage-to-frequency (V/F) converter from Xinluda, supplied in an 8-pin package and functionally equivalent to the widely used LM2907-8. It integrates a charge-pump tachometer with frequency doubling for low output ripple, plus a high-gain op amp/comparator with a floating transistor output capable of driving a relay, lamp, solenoid, meter, or LED directly. The output swings to ground for a zero-frequency input, and the device is well suited to single-speed or frequency-switching and fully buffered frequency-to-voltage conversion.

In the 8-pin XD2907-8 / LM2907-8 configuration, the tachometer input is ground-referenced: the negative terminal of the input comparator is internally connected to ground, so an input signal must swing above and below ground to trigger the output. This makes the device ideal for interfacing directly with variable-reluctance magnetic pickups, which produce a single-ended AC signal. The ground-referenced input is robustly protected against input swings beyond the supply rails.

Key Features

  • 8-pin frequency-to-voltage / voltage-to-frequency converter, LM2907-8 type
  • Ground-referenced tachometer input interfaces directly with variable-reluctance magnetic pickups
  • Charge-pump technique with frequency doubling for low output ripple
  • High-gain op amp/comparator with floating transistor output
  • 50 mA sink/source output current to operate relays, solenoids, meters, or LEDs
  • Output swings to ground for zero-frequency input
  • 0.3% typical linearity (±1% max) for the underlying LM2907 specification
  • Supply voltage rating to 28 V (absolute maximum), collector voltage to 28 V
  • Simple transfer relation VOUT = fIN × VCC × R1 × C1
  • Note: the 8-pin LM2907 does not include the on-chip zener regulator; that feature belongs to the LM2917 variant

Applications

  • Tachometers and engine RPM measurement
  • Speedometers and wheel-speed sensing
  • Over-speed and under-speed sensing / switching
  • Cruise control and speed governors
  • Breaker-point dwell meters and hand-held tachometers
  • Touch or sound-activated switches
