It belongs to the widely deployed 2803 / ULN2803 driver family and is designed to interface low-power logic (microcontrollers, logic gates, and similar) with higher-power inductive and resistive loads such as relays, solenoids, stepper and DC motors, lamps, and LED displays. Each of the eight outputs comprises an NPN Darlington pair with an integral output clamp diode for switching inductive loads and an on-chip series base resistor for direct logic-level drive.
