The Xinluda XL9535 is a 24-pin CMOS integrated circuit that provides 16 bits of general-purpose parallel input/output (GPIO) expansion for most microcontroller families over a two-wire I2C-bus / SMBus interface (serial clock SCL and serial data SDA). At power-up, all 16 I/Os default to inputs. An open-drain, active-LOW interrupt (INT) output is asserted whenever an input state differs from the corresponding input port register value, allowing the controller to avoid continuous I2C polling.
