The XL7219 is a serially interfaced, 8-digit LED display driver manufactured by Xinluda (XINLUDA). It is a compact, cost-effective display driver intended as a functional and pin-compatible replacement for the industry-standard Maxim MAX7219CWG+, making it a popular choice for driving 7-segment numeric LED displays, bar-graph displays, and discrete LED arrays. The device integrates a BCD code-B decoder, multiplex scan circuitry, segment and digit drivers, and an 8×8 static RAM that stores each digit, allowing a host microcontroller to update the display over a simple serial interface.

The XL7219 communicates through a 4-wire serial interface operating at clock rates up to 10MHz, and it drives common-cathode displays. Only a single external resistor is required to set the peak segment current for all LEDs, and digital brightness control is available through both an internal code register and an external resistor.
