The XL3232-TS from Xinluda is a low-power, multichannel RS-232 line driver/receiver designed to provide the electrical interface between an asynchronous communications controller and the serial-port connector. Integrating two drivers, two receivers, and a dual charge-pump circuit, the XL3232-TS operates from a single 3-V to 5.5-V supply, eliminating the need for the +/-12V rails traditionally required by RS-232 interfaces. It is a pin-compatible, cost-effective alternative within the widely used 3232/MAX3232 family of transceivers.

The integrated dual charge pump, combined with four small 0.1 uF external capacitors, generates the required RS-232 voltage levels from a single low-voltage supply. The device meets or exceeds the requirements of the TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU v.28 standards while drawing only 300 uA (typical) of supply current, making it well suited for power-sensitive and battery-powered designs.
